Jurors: Joanathan Goebel and Lonny Tomono

Jon Goebel is an Associate Professor and Master Printer at the University of Hawaii at Hilo Art Department.  Goebel earned his MFA from Texas Tech University, and his BS in Art from the University of Southern Indiana. He is a nationally recognized artist known for his symbolically charged print works and has shown worldwide. He has received multiple awards for his intaglio work and shown in over 150 group exhibitions across the United States and abroad including China, Portugal, Bulgaria, Argentina, Spain, South Korea, Canada, India, and Puerto Rico. Jon has taught numerous printmaking workshops in the U.S. and at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, China. More at: www.jongoebel.com
 
Lonny Tomono is recognized for his sculptural work that joins traditional Japanese woodcraft with the conceptual approach of contemporary art, blurring the line between utilitarian and modernist sculptural statements. He studied fine arts at the University of Hawaii, Hilo and sculpture at the San Francisco Art Institute and sculpture &3d design at San Jose State University, and served a 5 year apprenticeship in Kyoto Japan with a fifth generation temple builder working on buildings designated national treasures.He has been in solo and group exhibitions in Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York, San Jose, Kyoto.

Eligibility:
  1. Artwork in all mediums will be accepted.
  2. Only artwork that has been created in the past two years and has NOT been in a previous juried exhibit will be accepted.
  3. Artwork MUST be framed and ready to hang or easily installed. Gallery wrapped canvases (no exposed staples) will be accepted. NO SAWTOOTH HANGERS, NO GICLEE reproduction prints or enhanced giclèes of original art will be accepted; Digital art & photographs are OK. Entries will be rejected if they do not meet these criteria or are deemed inappropriate for public view.
  4. Prizes will be awarded and will depend on sponsorship and monies available after expenses and reception costs. First Place and Second Place Awards, Honorable Mention and People’s Choice Awards are planned.
  5. By entering this call you agree to all decisions, rules and conditions of the call, and not to hold the Wailoa Center, HIAA nor it's officers liable.
Prizes: Will be awarded and will depend on sponsorship and monies available after expenses and reception costs. First Place and Second Place Awards, Honorable Mention and People’s Choice Awards will be planned.

Works should be for sale - Artist keeps 90% - 10% of sales donated to HIAA
 

Wailoa Center will handle all artwork with the utmost care, however, it will not be held responsible for damages or loss of work submitted or exhibited.
